Gardening Guide
Growing crops is the everyday half of Heartopia's Gardening hobby -- plant, water, and harvest, with Fertilizer and Growth Boosters from Blanc to speed things up. This guide covers the basic loop, what those items actually do, and how star quality and mastery work. Looking to crossbreed flowers instead? See the Flower Crossbreeding Guide.
How Growing Works
Place a plot on your home lot, plant seeds from your inventory, and keep it watered with your watering can until it's fully grown. Stop by regularly -- a ready crop just sits there waiting to be collected, so a plot you forget about is time wasted rather than time saved.
๐ก Blanc at Central Square hands you your first plots, watering can, and starter seeds -- Tomato and Potato -- so there's no long unlock chain to worry about.
Golden Rules
Your first plots, watering can, and starter seeds (Tomato and Potato) all come from Blanc, Heartopia's Gardening Mentor at Central Square.
Applying Fertilizer to a crop as it grows pushes it toward a higher star tier -- apply it early rather than waiting, since it works on the growing crop, not the harvest itself.
A Growth Booster shortens how long a crop takes to mature, so you can turn a plot around faster instead of waiting out the full growth time.
Like fish, insects, and birds, every crop can come out anywhere from 1โ to 5โ -- fertilizer and your Gardening perks both push the odds toward a higher tier.
Gear From Blanc
Blanc's shop carries Fertilizer and Growth Booster in three tiers each -- stronger tiers unlock as your Gardening level climbs.
Want a guaranteed crossbreed instead of a better harvest? Blanc also sells Rainbow Breeding Powder -- covered in the Flower Crossbreeding Guide.
Star Quality & Mastery
Every crop can come in anywhere from 1โ to 5โ quality, and a higher tier always sells for more. On top of that, growing plenty of one crop builds up its own mastery ladder -- reach enough harvests and it steps up from Novice to Expert to Master. Tomato is a good example: its mastery ladder needs 1,200 for Novice, 3,600 for Expert, and 7,200 for Master, while its sell value climbs from 30 at 1โ up to 90 coins at 5โ . It also feeds into 9 different recipes once you're ready to cook with it.
See the full crop database for every species' own mastery thresholds, sell values, and which recipes use it -- or the Cooking Guide for what to do with a full harvest.
Gardening Perks
A few Gardening-level perks specifically help with crops, on top of what Fertilizer and Growth Booster do.
Improves the quality of crops after you water them -- one of the more direct ways to push toward higher star tiers.
Increases how many planters you can own at once, letting you run more crops in parallel.
Increases how many tiles you can tend to in one pass, so a watering round covers more ground.
Crop Growing Achievements
A couple of real achievements track crop growing specifically -- the Gardening category also covers flower crossbreeding achievements, which the Flower Crossbreeding Guide handles instead.
